ART 056 | Introduction to Printmaking
Introduction to the art (theory and practice) of making multiple original prints. Studio work surveys the printing processes, characteristics, materials, and developmental approaches used by the artist in making relief, intaglio, lithographic, and mono prints.
ART 057 | Printmaking: Relief I
An introduction to the relief process and printing techniques. The course investigates the principles and characteristics of the major relief forms with special attention given to multiple-block, color printing. This course also provides an introduction to mono-printing. The development of individual approaches to image making will be emphasized. PREREQ: ART 013 and ART 015.
ART 058 | Printmaking: Intaglio I
An introduction to the intaglio process and printing techniques. The course investigates the drawing tools, processing techniques, and printing procedures of major intaglio forms. The development of individual approaches to image making will be emphasized. Foundation course for printmaking majors. PREREQ: ART 013 and ART 015.
ART 059 | Printmaking: Lithography I
Introduction to the planographic process and printing techniques. The course investigates the principles and characteristics of stone lithography. Studio precision develops an understanding of drawing tools, processing techniques, and printing procedures of major lithographic processes. The development of individual approaches to image making will be emphasized. Foundation course for printmaking majors. PREREQ: ART 013 and ART 015.
ART 147 | Printmaking: Relief II
Continuance of ART 057. Course maintains the same aims, structure, and evaluation as ART 057. Concentration will be in relief processes found to have been most conducive to the student's development of individual artistic identity. Relief etching, collography and combinational methods will be given greater emphasis. PREREQ: ART 057.
ART 148 | Printmaking: Intaglio II
Continuance of ART 058. Course maintains the same aims and structure as ART 058. Concentration will be in intaglio processes found to have been most conducive to the development of the student's individual artistic identity. More advanced techniques such as photo etching and multiple- plate and color viscosity printing will be introduced. PREREQ: ART 058.
ART 149 | Printmaking: Lithography II
Continuance of ART 059. Course maintains the same aims, structure, and evaluation as ART 059. Concentration will be in lithographic processes found to have been most conducive to the development of the student's individual artistic identity. Aluminum plate, photo, and color lithography will be introduced. PREREQ: ART 059.

Advanced relief problems arranged with instructor. PREREQ: ART 147.

Advanced intaglio problems arranged with instructor. PREREQ: ART 148.

Advanced lithographic problems arranged with instructor. PREREQ: ART 149.
ART 160 | Printmaking: Special Problems
Advanced intaglio problems arranged with instructor. PREREQ: ART 062.
ART 162 | Advanced Printing Special Problems
Advanced studio work in relief, intaglio, or lithography. Original research problems are arranged with the instructor. PREREQ: ART 148 or ART 149.
